So you want to know more about Bethany Church. We could tell you about the members of our congregation, which come from all walks of life and every generation. We could tell you about our facility, which was built in 2011 when the needs of our congregation necessitated a move from Tucker to Forsyth County. We could even tell you about our family integrated culture, which brings us all together in everything we do. However, as the body of Christ, we believe we'd be remiss not to tell you first and foremost about our rock, and the foundation of everything we attempt to be and do, Jesus Christ. It is Jesus Christ that brings us together for the purpose of glorifying Him.
In the New Testament, the church is often represented as a building. In Matthew 16:18, Christ said to Peter, "...and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." At Bethany Church, we believe that this rock is none other than Christ himself, and by continuing to build upon this rock, and none other, our foundation is sure. This thought continues in Ephesians 2:19-22 where Paul shows the continued construction of the church; "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit."
At Bethany Church, we strive to keep in mind the building plans of the Great Architect of not only the universe, but the church itself. This is why we choose to base our instruction firmly on the scriptures of the Old and New Testament. It is also the reason you will see a worship style closely resembling that of the New Testament church. By founding the church upon the proper foundation and following the instruction and examples of the New Testament Church, we pray that we can be a monument and habitation for our God, by Jesus Christ, and through the Holy Spirit.
