These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 Timothy 3:14-16
Gus Harter points us to Jesus Christ in this inspiring study. The church is to be the pillar and ground of the truth, and Jesus Christ is that truth. Yet Christ was a mystery during Old Testament times. He was revealed to the saints of the early church in the New Testament. Elder Harter examines the unraveling of the mystery through the gospels as Christ revealed Himself to His disciples. Our Savior is wholly man and wholly God, and the truth of His identity is preserved in His word and upheld by His church to this day.
