Harter: Let Us Be Faithful

by Administrator on March 28, 2010

As the time of his death nears, Joshua challenges the children of Israel in Joshua 24:14-18 to remain faithful to the God of their fathers who had delivered them from Egypt and brought them into a bountiful land. Chapters 23 and 24 record his instruction and blessing to Israel. The key to understanding Joshua’s message is service.

God calls His children to a life of service. Our response, or our failure to respond, does not affect our relationship to God as one of His children, but rather our fellowship with Him. Obedience brings timely blessing. And after Joshua’s death, scripture records tellingly that only one generation of unfaithful men can bring down a nation. Let us serve in faith, preserving our families, our churches, and our country in so doing.
