Harter: Moses Blesses the Sons of Jacob

by Administrator on March 21, 2010

In Deuteronomy 33:1-8 scriptures record the blessing of Moses upon the children of Jacob. It is quite different from the blessing given by Jacob upon his deathbed at the end of the book of Genesis. In that blessing, Jacob shone a harsh and uncompromising light upon the actions and failures of his sons; it rewarded them according to their works. The blessing of Moses was one of grace.

Elder Harter uses verse three as the framework for his discourse. In that verse, Moses says of the Lord, “Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words.” The love of the Lord is everlasting; His saints are in the providential care of His hands; they sit at His feet and receive truth and light in the study of His word and attendance of church.
